Re: Thursday 11th April - Decanting Experiment plus some drinkers
Harry has asked me to assemble the food order , for which you might welcome a link to the food menu . You know what to do; do it. Lunch: • Crab; • Beyond Meat Burger; • Welsh rarebit. Dinner: • Soup of day; • Sirloin steak, blue , + skinny fries, + carrots; • Bramdean Pudding. (Everybody has been pi...

This is the funniest post on TPF, perhaps ever. Re: 1994s, B&F, Tue 26 Mar 2024
So let me ask a question. If I were to give you a bottle of Port to drink this weekend, with the producer chosen at random, which vintage would you prefer me to select from if I limit your choice to the 1980s or 1990s? • 1980 is part great, part absolutely not. • I’m not a fan of ’83. • 1985 has so...

Re: 1994s, B&F, Tue 26 Mar 2024
I had a '94 Vesuvio earlier this year and it just blew me away. I had a '94 Graham's shortly after that and while very good, it couldn't touch the Vesuvio. With that being said, I'm still amazed that the Vesuvio ran laps around some very good Ports. Could it just be that certain bottles might not h...

Graham 1994 standing in anticipation of Tuesday. Is that a 2022 release? No - it's from one of those mixed Symington 3-bottle presentation cases alongside a D94 and W94. The case has been at Seckfords for some time. Yup, that was the Dec 21 / Jan 22 release. The clue is the "matured in our cel...

RO94: red-pink, 40% opaque. Nose = “Yuck”. Others were brave enough to taste it, and reported the palate to be better than than the nose.

Ck94: red, 50% opaque. Dry, decent Port. For Cockburn of this era, a great result.
As with many bottles this evening, could be drunk with pleasure, but not of the greats.

V94 : dark red, 70% opaque. The Business. Soft black berry fruit, hint of fragrant perfume, full and large and present and soft and just all-round delicious. Three points from a dozen of us; two points from two of us: the huge score was totally fair. And, bliss it was in that evening to be alive, a...

D94: dark dark red, opacity not noted. Nose very strongly of lemon, so stringly that I checked neighbour’s glasses. Rich, great weight and texture, very lovely now, but the lemon was peculiar. I liked.

I just hate 1990s corks. Bloody Fonseca cork exploded into tiny fragments, even after being loosened with the JDAW cork impeller. Ditto my Warre cork, but Martinez and Noval came clean.
