1991 Morgan Vintage Port

Wow, wonderfully figgy (reminds me of Vesuvio 1996), some red cherries and a little smack of chalky tanins. Reasonably long on the follow through too. Stunning @ the price. Not a shut down bottle for me, but I have detected some bottle variation this was the most integrated alcohol on the finish by ...

Re: 1987 Niepoort vintage port

I also polished off a bottle of the Niepoort 1987 recently and I would second AHB comments, strawberry jam mouth and a chocolate digestive aftertaste (I hope everyone knows what chocolate digestives taste like). More alcohol burn than I personally would look for and in the bottom half of port wines ...

Lay & Wheeler in the UK are advertising Vesuvio 2006 @ 183/6 in bond

Don't recall having seen 2006's and given the heat in London today buying port was far from my mind.

I've just bought some bottles of Smith Woodhouse 1997 for under £10 per bottle, in bond. They shall stay there for another 10 years! :D So will mine  - but the 6 half bottles of Graham's 1985 I bought two days ago are unlikely to see 2010  And so will mine, I bought some bottles of Fons...

Strange deal on paper and even stranger comments. Long may the diversity rule hopefully more indies will emerge and develop global reputations. Given that western economies thrive on consumer choice ('which blade razor would sir like ?' etc.), choice is ingrained in our shopping habits and personall...

I think I mentioned it before (maybe elsewhere) I am under to pressure to drink Vesuvio's to house the growing wooden train collection my son has. Given the cost of suitable boxes for family rooms I think I can legitimately exclude Vesuvio from my wine budget since it is clearly household storage :)

Peter Bayly 2004

Pater Bayly I think of restaurant fame in the cape and now making cape vintage p*** wine. Not bad, certainly not bad for the money. From Calitzdorp home of Boplas and De Krans. Very dark, slightly citric nose I associate with the fortified wines from tis part of SA. Sweetness hits you first then a b...

I too found it tricky to pick but I went for Sandeman, I have fond memories of consuming some at the house of a Uni mate. Clearly his family house (not his student digs) and they'd gone away and I found the port :)

For me Ronnie hit the nail on the head this one is delicate, reddish/orange colour, some heat after 5 hours in the decanter, hints of blackberries on the palate with delicate tannins and quite a long after taste.

hope it is a vintage year for you both! You could always establish a wedding 'port fund' and buy port for all those anniversaries (at least one a year!)
