Re: Thu 19th December 2013: The Unknown Shipper at the Bell

Linked PDF still shows Derek as participant, unless link/PDF still pending update. Sorry, my fault. I dragged from the wrong directory into my FTP client. Should be good now. Please re-check. Names good. Are glass labels supposed to be columns of 13? (I thought 12 on label sheets?). Tasting note sh...

Re: Apostrophe crimes

The problem is that Julian hasn't actually given me a good reason for why it's incorrect. Compare and contrast: • Fine ales from Isle of Skye • Fine ales from ‘Isle of Skye’ What is the purpose of the quotation marks in the latter? I could have understood ‟Fine Isle-of-Skye ales”, as a compound ad...

Not an apostrophe crime, but offensive to those who see these things. "We found that nearly half of the co-educational state-funded schools we looked are actually doing worse than average," explained Clare Thomson, curriculum and diversity manager at the Institute of Physics. There are at...

Re: Software that makes placemats

How about /StickyLabelsAllowAcrossPages which when defined as true works as currently, but when false you calculate how many attendees' labels will fit on one page, and then pads the rest? Padding could be after, or equally spaced between (the latter woul provide for RAYC's request.

Re: 60 vs 63

It's not unknown for us to have events on successive nights. I had read the 60v63 as being "on the back of the BFT", i.e. the evening following (rather than the Wed 24th suggested later in the thread) I learnt my lesson last year. Post-BFT I’ll be fit for, at most, two pints of ale, and t...

@jdaw - did you notice that something seems to have gone wrong with the names along the top of the "what is it?" page, either orientation, font size or both? No. What’s wrong? The code tries to save space by putting the horizontally, unless that is too much of a squeeze, when it flips to ...

Re: 60 vs 63

Had Dirk already been invited and accepted? If so, the prior arrangement should probably stand. if not, could we do it the week / two weeks before or after? I asked Dirk if he could make that date for the 91-92 and he couldn't. Is that because he thinks he is at the ’60-’63? I presume he would ask ...

How should this be parameterised? I'm going to have to read the manual to understand the current parameters... Am sorry to hear that, especially since you also missed last year's event. Hopefully you will be making up for it in the new year; in the meantime...
