Tasting note catch up

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

I've just caught up with typing up my tasting notes - the last ones I posted were on 15th September. As time permits over the next few days (weeks?) I have 100 more tasting notes to post. :D
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Is this an attempt to push Andre and Daniel from the podium of most tasting notes this month? Or just throwing down the gauntlet for the rest of us?

Face it, our glory was only ever going to be short-lived. Faced with a drinking machine like Alex, we are mere boys.

But, as discussed elsewhere, you definitely beat him for length.

That made me chuckle.

It's not length that's important. It's how much it gets used. I've seen mine used in a lot of unexpected places and by people I don't even know and who don't ask my permission.

They have cleverly posted their notes in the German Wines Tasting Note forum, knowing that I will never approach their levels of consumption of these watery near-colourless liquid. Mine is a man's drink. Real men drink port. I can prove it. It says so in a book I own.

Real men do indeed drink port. But they're also sufficiently comfortable with who they are to admit liking refreshing, complex, satisfying Other Wines, even white ones. They know that they're men. They don't need to worry. They don't have wineglass anxiety.

Nicely put Daniel. But being a real man Alex will no doubt grunt from the shed rather than bare his feelings on this matter. Isn't the next category after port, brandy? I wonder if we have any heroes here.

I thought I caught the odious signs of booklarning on Alex. But I never thought he would have the temerity to raise it here.
