That's a nice UK price. I was over in Borough market and there were some wine vendors there hawking it at 70/bottle. That said, i was rather amused to see 30 y.o. vintage port being sold out of the OWC in a street market.Alex M wrote:7 x Dow 1983 from BBR @ £29. They still have 4 left if anybody is interested.

I'm pretty sure it must have been a pricing error - it just does not make any sense in the context of the prices of other ports on their list...or the last time i purchased a bottle of Dow 83 from them (£40ish in early 2010 i believe, but their prices seem to have gone up a lot since then)AHB wrote:That is an extremely fair price - i would have been a buyer at that price!Alex M wrote:7 x Dow 1983 from BBR @ £29. Warre have always made both a filtered and traditional LBV - both are pretty good but I prefer the unfiltered version. I'm assuming that this is a filtered LBV, but thought I'd ask in case there was a change in the release strategy for the traditional LBV.RAYC wrote:Very interesting...i hope this is not a sign that their delayed-release unfiltered is on its way out - the 2001 in Waitrose at the moment is rather good.AHB wrote:Is this Traditional LBV or filtered?Zelandakh wrote:Warre's 2006 LBV at £6.99 in Morrisons. It is the traditional lbv. I will try a controlled experiment decanting it and leave for 24 hours. Not tonight though - Firsty Friday...port won't last long tonight

I have just visited Morrisons with the intention of clearing their shelves of this wine. Unfortunately, the vast quantity of Warre LBV 2006 that is on display there at £6.99 per bottle is the standard filtered LBV, not the "Bottle Matured" LBV that was once known as "Traditional".Zelandakh wrote:It is the traditional lbv.

No problem, Nick, the dream was good while it lasted
I'm sure the Warre LBV 06 is a good wine but I decided to save my pennies for the next ridiculous VP offer that hits the UK supermarket shelves this festive season.

Sainsbury currently have both of the above on special offer with an additional 25% off for buying 6 or more bottles. They have lots of other styles that are on similarly attractive offers. Go now!!!!

There is quite a lot of bottles on there at the moment, though mostly over-priced, especially considering lack of provenance etc; Has been a while since I had a good ebay bargain. I acquired one of the Graham verticals during the most recent FTLOP purchasing opportunity. The price was high, but the bottles were all purchased on release and kept in the cellar at a California winery for their entire lives so I thought... just this once... I'll overpay for known good storage.
14 bottles, starting with '63 and ending with '07.

Re: Latest buy
I got this one for £53, which I'm happy with as that's much cheaper than the other four I bought about three years ago. As you might know, 1965 VP is essential to my continued existence and the real cost of this bottle works out at just under £1.02 per weekPhilW wrote:There is quite a lot of bottles on there at the moment, though mostly over-priced, especially considering lack of provenance etc; Has been a while since I had a good ebay bargain.DRT wrote:This slipped through the net of the eBay Police whilst they were gorging themselves on turkey...
There are quite a few bottles on there at the moment but they won't all reach the end of the auction before some nerd at eBay zaps them for having a comma in the wrong place in the description

This thread got me over to ebay for a search, which turned this up.
It also turned up the artwork of Raymond Campbell, who frequently paints still-life's that include Port. He's somewhere in the UK, anyone reached out?

Note that you're still on the hook for the 1985 horizontal in '15. I have 23 bottles ready for that and know of another contributor who can expand it by 3 (at last check), so it's going to be an epic gathering even if some of the Ports are not quite as epic.

Must admit to being quite pleased. They said the offer had ended but someone must have forgotten to take it off shelf so as it was still advertised at that price and they advertise that they will refund twice difference if they overcharge they had no option but to give refund.RAYC wrote:wait...so you paid 11p per Croft 2004 lbv...that must be a record, even for Tesco!!mpij wrote:Great deal in Tesco today Croft unfiltered lbv 1/2 bottles reduced from £8.29 to £4.20 but went through till at full price, when I went to customer services they refunded twice the difference!
