I'd say Adrian scolded Mr. Pratts about his lack of Douro knowledge in that reply.

Interesting article and reply from Adrian. I know the discussion on irrigation is one which has been going for a while, but as far as I know the current rules forbid irrigation of port grapes once the vines have established themselves.

But then Prats + Symington are a table wine producer and make only a tiny amount of port. Anyone know what the rules are around irrigation of grapes for table wine in the Douro?

From what I recall it's ok to irrigate vines used for dry wines. And IIRC, one can also irrigate older vines used for Port with prior permission. Rules in the Douro are more like guidelines :lol:
