Port wine chocolates

Post by MrFrodo »

Hi,

I recently had Calem port wine chocolate with a bottle of port - divine! I had never paired port with chocolate before and clearly had been missing out!
I had brought the chocolates home (UK) following a trip to Porto.
Can anyone recommend a place to buy these / similar chocolates in the UK - or online (without an unreasonable shipping cost)?

Many thanks

I've occasionally seen these types of chocolates in Hotel Chocolat at Christmas and at food fairs durng the year, but never really paid much attention to them.

Some careful ebay or Amazon searching might reveal a source. I do vaguely recall some years ago reading about Graham 6 Grapes being used by a chocolatier for making something similar.

I have done a couple of tastings pairing Chocolate and Port and always was keen on getting chocolate you can buy pretty much everywhere.

Here are some suggestions:

You can certainly switch the producers on your availability and likes, but the pairings work quite nicely

Wow, thank you very much for those suggestions, that will keep me busy.
I never though of white port with chocolate - that may be the first one to try. I love the Barros lagrima white port - I'll experiment and report back!
