Brooks Royal Coronation Vintage Port 1878
Brooks Royal Coronation Vintage Port 1878
Online auctions seems to have come up with 3 of these odd balls.
Anybody heard of it?

No I haven’t. It’s a Tawny from what I can tell. But three bottles, bottled after the Selo came to exist based on bottle, without Selo is a major red flag. They could be legit but I’d do some serious scrutiny of the bottles first.

I'd like a closer look at the bottle to gauge its age, but I've never heard of the port or the shipper before.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

How do you know when it was bottled?Andy Velebil wrote: ↑05:32 Fri 02 Nov 2018bottled after the Selo came to exist based on bottle, without Selo is a major red flag.
Could have been in 1901, 1910, 1936 or 1952. The first two would definitely not have a Selo.
Some googling of London company archives might turn up something about the wine merchant Richard Brooks & Co.
I wonder if he had a friend named Justerini?

I’ve never seen that bottle used prior to late 1960’s. I’ll have to research the New York importer.

It's not the first time these bottles have come up in auction.
There was a private seller from somewhere in asia back in 2003?
And there was a wine bid auction back in 2013?
Someone was also trying to peddle this bottle on the wine spectator forums back in 2014.
