Closures, and re-openings

Post by jdaw1 »

This thread is hold news of closures, whether temporary or permanent, of places in which we have drunk Port, planned to drink Port, or even just hoped to drink Port.

Title amended from just “Closures” to “Closures, and re-openings”.

From Davy’s: It is with huge personal sadness that I have to announce that all Davy's Wine Bars and our other associated bars and restaurants are now temporarily closed to the public until further notice. This is to protect our teams and limit the further spread of the COVID-19 virus. … please be in no doubt that I will do my absolute utmost to bring about the resurrection of the business …, and at the earliest possible moment.

All places we drink port in NY and NJ -- including our houses -- are temporarily closed with the exception of port drinking by the residents. :P

Post their notices here. Notices to be re-visited when the places themselves can be re-visited.

Davy’s Wine Vaults to Reopen on 4th July

There is light at the end of the tunnel. We are thrilled that Davy's Wine Vaults in Greenwich will reopen on Saturday 4th July, following the Government's announcement, and we are now taking bookings for the inside and outside areas.

As you would expect, the experience will be very different from your last visit to a Davy's Wine Bar with all of the required social distancing measures in place, ordering and payment via mobile, multiple hand sanitation stations and frequent cleaning and disinfecting of tables, chairs and other key areas. However, we are sure that a great glass of wine and some quality comfort food, will more than compensate!

We expect to reopen more of our wine bars throughout the summer and will keep you updated on plans and promotions. Meanwhile, we hope that you can join us in Greenwich in just nine days time.

Re: Closures, and re-openings - Hawksmoor

From Hawksmoor:
Reopening Restaurants

After the sadness of shutting all our restaurants down, and the strangely busy purgatory of the last few months, we could not be more excited to be opening our restaurants again or to tell you about our tentative steps to try and bring Hawksmoor into your homes wherever you are in the UK.

Our restaurants will open in the following order:

Borough - Thursday 9th July
Manchester - Thursday 16th July
Seven Dials - Tuesday 21st July
Spitalfields - Friday 24th July
Air Street - Tuesday 28th July
Knightsbridge - Friday 31st July
Edinburgh - Thursday 6th August
Guildhall - Tuesday 1st September

We’ll open Borough on the 9th for weekday dinners and all day at the weekend (unfortunately with the lack of confirmation around the date the 4th came a little too soon for us!) and learn as much as we can about how to run restaurants brilliantly under the new guidelines.
