Re: Latest buy
Be a little cautious. A couple of the people I was with on Tuesday feel that the G77 is a little closed at the moment and was better / will be better with a couple more years in the bottle. Perhaps it's going through the phase that the Taylor 1985 was going through around 2009.TLW wrote:12 x 1977 Graham

However, having provided their point of view I can now also say that I love this port and really enjoy drinking it.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Delighted to finally post after lurking for so long, and thank you for the note about the 77 Graham. It has been some time since I last had it, and whilst a pleasure, it certainly does not approach the 1966 or 1970 - thus, I feel compelled to reconfirm those impressions. Have had a couple of the 1992 Niepoort, but definitely too young.

Re: Latest buy
Recent purchases include single bottles of:
'60 Croft
'66 Taylor
'67 Cockburn (consumed)
'70 Warre (consumed)
'85 Taylor
'97 QdV
'00 Skeffington
and a case of Noval '94.
The remaining singles are primarily intended for future TPF events. I was hoping that I could offload these to a kind soul who may have better storage space and better discipline than myself. At the moment i keep them in the office and I am awfully trigger happy. If any of the UK-based regulars are able to house some bottles for TPF events, please let me know. The case will go to storage where it is beyond my greedy reach.

You need some cellar defenders.

If this is a serious request, there is room for a few in my eurocave alongside jdaw1's F85s and G83s...!PopulusTremula wrote:

Wow. A nice wine and one which is quite tough to get hold of - and one which I think will be absolutely stunning in another 10-30 years!PopulusTremula wrote:...and a case of Noval '94...

1991 Fonseca Guimarens bottles
1991 Fonseca Guimarens halves
1994 Graham bottles
2000 Fonseca bottles
Looking forward to these, although it is probably best to let them sleep for a great while longer. Any strong views on the Guimarens? Thinking about picking up some more if I can find it in full bottles rather than halves.

I like the 1991 FG; it's drinking very nicely now but will get gradually better over the next 20 years. Half bottles are probably perfect for current drinking.TLW wrote:1991 Fonseca Guimarens bottles

You could adopt me as your son, and, if you should pre-decease me, that would guarantee that the obsession would be passed on.TLW wrote:In my will, I really must bequeath to my daughter my obsession with port.

But if the bequest is specified to be to a daughter, are you prepared for the required sex change?jdaw1 wrote:You could adopt me as your son, and, if you should pre-decease me, that would guarantee that the obsession would be passed on.TLW wrote:In my will, I really must bequeath to my daughter my obsession with port.

The port I'll drink.PhilW wrote:But if the bequest is specified to be to a daughter, are you prepared for the required sex change?jdaw1 wrote:You could adopt me as your son, and, if you should pre-decease me, that would guarantee that the obsession would be passed on.TLW wrote:In my will, I really must bequeath to my daughter my obsession with port.
