2006 Declarations
2006 Declarations
Please use this thread to post any information you find on 2006 VP decalrations in the coming few weeks.
I have made this post a Sticky so that you can find it at the top of the Forum but once most or all of the houses have played their 2006 cards it will return to being a normal thread and end up in the mix with the rest of the threads here.
Thanks
Derek

Granted, this probably should go under a different headliner, but the theme is relevant: Niepoort decided to forego their renowned dry wines 'Batuta' and 'Charme' bottlings for 2006 as well. Apparently quality was a bit evasive in 2006, something I detected amongst many Douro wines at ProWein a few weeks back. Shucks.

Cockburn will produce a Canais 06. They will send samples to the IDVP soon.

All second names, except Vesuvio which is its own second name. My daughter and nephew, born 2006, will be getting 2003s it seems. Must speak to Uncle T about prices.Derek T. wrote:Intended declarations notified so far:

I think you should consider half a case of the Vesuvio for each of them so that you can say - I know 6 guys who have had their feet in that stuffjdaw1 wrote:All second names, except Vesuvio which is its own second name. PS: Although at least 7 members had their feet in it I believe you have only met 6 of them.

Presumably the seventh is named within the previous post?
Presumably the seventh is named within the previous post? Yes, maybe two cases: one of 2003, one of Vesuvio 2006. Maybe. Must speak to the man about prices.

No. He lives in Southern California, likes chemicals and hasn't been seen around here for some time.jdaw1 wrote:Presumably the seventh is named within the previous post?

Back to the point guys. Because of the fact that 06 does not seem to be a superb vintage anyway I dont want to spoil my last bit of hope imagining that some nasty british-american feet, who were not washed a lot during this tour beforehand left their mark in the wine as well
Portal is declaring a SQVP in 06.

My feet were clean, as I did spill some 1990 Vesuvio on them as I was walking bare feet on the dirt to the lagar room, so that bit of alcohol sterilized them real good10Anos wrote:Why else would people prefer VPs made from foot trodden grapes over mechanically trodden grapes?Axel P wrote:I dont want to spoil my last bit of hope imagining that some nasty british-american feet, who were not washed a lot during this tour beforehand left their mark in the wine as well

And then you rebottled the 1990 and called the 'specal aroma' Douro Bake?ADV wrote:My feet were clean, as I did spill some 1990 Vesuvio on them as I was walking bare feet on the dirt to the lagar room, so that bit of alcohol sterilized them real good10Anos wrote:Why else would people prefer VPs made from foot trodden grapes over mechanically trodden grapes?Axel P wrote:I dont want to spoil my last bit of hope imagining that some nasty british-american feet, who were not washed a lot during this tour beforehand left their mark in the wine as well

On the assumption this is Port, this is a name I've never heard of!Axel P wrote:Thanks for the response. If I will ever lay hand on this VPs I try to point out who trod them.
No Seara D'Ordens in 2006
Axel
This does happen periodically, but it always amazes me when a brand new name (To me of course) like this, pops up on the radar.

Please check the hompepage: http://www.quintasearadordens.pa-net.pt/
There is no way one knows everything about Port.

I did and learned another thing: Special Reserve Tawny. Never knew it existed, but they make it...Axel P wrote:Please check the hompepage: http://www.quintasearadordens.pa-net.pt/
