Port from Sainsbury

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Today (Tuesday) is the last day of Sainsbury's "buy 6 bottles and get 25% off" sale. Sainsbury's Taste the Difference 2003 vintage port is still on half price offer, which makes it £13.12 for a dense, fruity and fabulous vintage port this has got to be one of the bargains of the decade - on a par with the Morgan 1991 @ £50 for 6.

If anyone is popping out to Sainsbury...do get me some then!

(their online store does not seem to apply the discount to the shopping basket...)

Something I noticed that might be of interest; two of the stores I visited did not have the 50% off sticker on the shelf by the Taste the Difference port. So I took a bottle to the till and asked them to check the price. Sure enough, it came up as priced at £17.49 and not £34.99.

I've finished shopping for the day, and have probably ended up with more bottles than I need for my own consumption (51 in total, 1 of which is now gone). If anyone missed out on the deal and would like a bottle or two, please drop me a PM.

I know that collectively The Port Forum buys significant quantities of port that is exported to the UK from the Douro. If people are willing to share, (or PM if you'd rather keep it private), please say how many bottles (if any) you managed to buy of this deal.

Sainsbury Winnersh was cleared by me, Sainsbury Bracknell by someone else

Yes, Alex, 4 for me, if you still can spare some. Although I will not be able to take them with me this time. Maybe you would be so kind to put these into a parcel and ship them together with the Tesco 94s? I guess you have some connection to a brave shipment company to Germany with 3 letters :-))

Please let me know if this is possible and what I owe you.

Thanks in advance

Axel
