That's a piece of good chance on a Monday afternoon! The cellar fairies must have been worried about you.

I wondered where I put that. Thanks for finding it for me. I'll be glad to collect it, or better share it with you, when I return to the UK. Many thanks

ADV is an L.A. Detective so cannot be trusted. I have witnesses, all of whom will temporarily deny all knowledge of seeing me hand you the bottle and overhearing you say "I am not in the habit of drinking Port that I know belongs to someone else", or words to that effect.

I'm not playing this game any more. It's mine!!!

Mrs W insists that it is hers. If you have a reply to that, do share.

I recently heard DRT say "I've never had Graham 1970 before" so it plainly can't be his.

If JDAW is too perturbed by the bottle's presence, or any similar discovery, I am sure the local rent-a-tpfer can provide a solution on eradicating the miscreants.

I am happy to trade it with Mrs W for a bottle of Noval olive oil.

I lose a G70; the Mrs gains a bottle a olive oil. A harsh test of marriage vows.

If it will ease your pain and help make your stomach full of bliss, I'll double Derek's offer and toss in an extra bottle of Vargellas Olive Oil as well.

I am sure you remember the conditions attaching to your agreement to look after it until I have an emergency and call for your assistance.

It will happen something like this:

1. DRT realises he has an early finish at work and no plans for the evening. Emergency!

2. SMS from DRT to JDAW: "I have an emergency. Do you have a pass?"

3. JDAW to DRT: "Let me check."

4. JDAW to DRT: "G70 plus something else* have been decanted. 17:00 at TBH?"

5. DRT: "Thank you. See you at 17:00. Please let others know via TPF."

6. JDAW announces emergency tasting on TPF.

7. The usual things happen.

* If "something else" comprises a range of vessels containing Port with a combined approximate volume of 3 litres there is little point in bringing it (them) blind.

Which is exactly what I planned to do with my G70. So what was the problem?

Port is all about tradition, ceremony, pomp, and circumstance. Clearly this plan:
DRT's plan wrote:1. DRT realises he has an early finish at work and no plans for the evening. Emergency!

2. SMS from DRT to JDAW: "I have an emergency. Do you have a pass?"

3. JDAW to DRT: "Let me check."

contains far more pomp and circumstance than this plan:

Although, mastermind that he is, jdaw1 likely included this entire thread as part of his master plan.

Well played, jdaw1. Well played.

I think Glen might have missed one critical point. It's mine!!! (and JDAW was promised a share of it when it was entrusted to his care)

Not content with trying to usurp my bottle of G70, is DRT now trying to wriggle free of the promised olive oil for my Mrs W. The effrontery of it!

You're going to let JDAW have it for dinner tonight. He'll need to get decanting.
