HABEMUS VINTAGE PORT

Post by Axel P »

The O-PORT-UNIDADE Port (http://www.o-port-unidade.com) has been accepted as Vintage Port at the IVDP and will be bottled as such.

Go on, tell us. How many times did you have to submit the identical wine before they passed it? (No shame — great Ports need at least twice to defeat the IVDP.)

Fantastic, Axel! Well done. I still think this is one of the coolest things in the history of Port! :D

I was also somewhat prepared to do this more than once. Acutally when it is declined as VP you need to put this up to the Interprofessional Council to discuss. It took a while due to Easter, but went through on the frist attempt.

Much looking forward to receiving your comments in London

Perhaps a better question is where will it be available?

Even if it isn't available in the USA, I'm going to want to pick up at least a few bottles. Very cool project, Axel!

Great picture!
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

If we ever come around a "joint" tasting between the US and the Europeans, I am more then happy to put a bottle in. If you want to taste overseas I am also more than happy to pass a bottle or two to Andy.

I am going to bring some with me. Either you drink them or share them with the US Port lovers. Strange that Roy never reported on this.

If you wanted to, you could bring one to the 12th Anniversary tasting. I'd find some way to rationalize it fitting the theme. ;-)

So disappointing.

Thirsty. Open proper bottle. Make progress: drink an amount that feels like ⅚ of the whole. Return for a top-up and — and catastrophe. Disaster and devastation, calamity and debacle, an unheralded emergency: it’s all gone. Too small.

Six litres is the way forward. Trust me.
