Wine and Spirit Adulterators Unmasked
Author: William West (One of the Old School)
First Published: 1827
Edition: 2008
Code/Source: ISBN-13: 978-1407603643

Comments: Gabbler reveals the stated author "One of the Old School" to be William West. A fascinating read from a man who pulled no punches in articulating his thoughts about the seedier side of the wine trade in the early 19th century.

Wine and the Wine Lands of the World: With Some Account of Places Visited
Author: Frank Hedges Butler
First Published: 1926
Edition: 1926
Code/Source: ASIN: B0008580XQ
Pages: 271
Comments: A great book written by a very colourful character from the turn of the century. Although only 10 pages are dedicated to Port this is definitely worth having in a collection if, as I was lucky enough to do, you can find an original edition at a reasonable price.

Wines of the World
Author: André L. Simon
First Published: 1967
Edition: 1967
Code/Source: ASIN: B0000CNN83
Pages: 719
Comments: This is a huge volume and is a "major revision" Second Edition by Serena Sutcliffe, published 11 years after the editor and co-author of the original book, André L. Simon's death. As the title says, this book covers every major wine region in the world, including Port. I purchased the Second Edition for £0.01 on Amazon. So I couldn't resist paying an extra £6.74 to own a First Edition, First Print copy too!
