A theme suggested by Flash: the ‘Sweet-Spot Vintages’, being 1966, 1970, and 1977, in each of Dow, Graham, Taylor, and Warre. So on Wednesday 17th June 2015 we gathered at Davy’s Woolgate.

W7& (originally ‘VIII’). Bright bright red, 40% opaque. Nose of red cherry. Palate of soft red fruit. Grit mid-palate. A touch lighter than perfect.

Mature red, no bricking; 50% opaque. Bizarrely there is nothing on the nose! An odd palate with sweet fruit but with a peculiar undertone, like cheese. Lingering on the finish, cranberry and white stilton. Really odd. Not liked and not typical. Guessed to be Warre 1970. 78/100.
