2008 Alves de Sousa

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, opaque and with a black centre. Sour cherries on the nose, sour cherries on the palate with lots of blackcurrant. The sourness gives a good balance and patience brings out powerful tannins. There are lovely components and a good balance on the palate. The aftertaste is big and floral and leads to a very fine, big and chewy finish. Impressive port. 92/100. Drunk 06-May-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
