2003 Churchill

Deep red with no youthfulness but not yet an y bricking. VA on the nose, soft and gentle but distinct and off-putting. Balanced entry with a mid-palate of restrained fruit and drying tannins. Hints of the VA show through but not to the extent of damaging the flavour profile. Very chewy on the late palate. The finish is great, full of chewiness from roasted nut tannins and delivers a huge length. This could have been - perhaps will be - a great port. 85/100. 06-May-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
