Burnished copper colour, 40% opaque. Gentle nose, slightly nutty with a touch of mild VA and some spiciness. Smooth entry, then a powerful and biting acidity on the palate surrounded by rich, sweet spiced cherries. Very flavoursome. Very, very hot on the aftertaste; a long and extremely tasty finish. This is a very well made, fully mature port, full of spices and dried red fruit. 89/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
