2013 Fonseca Guimaraens

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

5,000 cases made. Cask sample. Purple with a narrow rim. Blueberries, cornflowers and crushed dock leaves on the nose. On the palate the first impression is of ripe fruit but then a wave of flower perfume follows. Huge tannins grip and hold and give a massive structure. The tannic grip on the aftertaste slowly releases the fruit but is always there adding a terrific chewy texture. This is a very good port. 91-93/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
