1972 Graham Single Harvest Tawny (bottled 2015)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2015. Olive brown centre, green rim; 30% opaque at the centre. Huge nose, full of grapefruit acidity and pistachio paste VA. Slow on the entry, slow to deliver on the palate until a powerful acidity rides over the top of the sweetened grapefruit and brown sugar. The mid-palate shows dusty icing sugar, nutskin tannins and a delicious treacle sweetness. Nicely balanced. A great dose of warmth shows on the aftertaste with burnt sugar lingering for the finish. Balanced and intense, this slightly lacks freshness. This was the first Single Harvest Tawny put aside by Peter Symington. 92/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
