2013 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

1200 cases produced (3% of Noval's total production in 2013). Cask sample. Deep magenta centre, no purple; narrow scarlet rim. A lovely perfumed nose that is a little bit tanky but full of flowers and blueberry fruit. Powerful entry with generous levels of fruit and a terrific tannic structure offset by the perfect dose of ripe acidity. A fabulous palate. The aftertaste is lifted and perfumed and is followed by a huge bitter coffee finish full of dried flowers and blackcurrants. The finish is immense, over 2 minutes long. An astonishing port. 94-96/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
