2000 Quinta do Noval Colheita (bottled 2013)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2013. Red mahogany colour, 40% opaque. Subdued on the nose, not showing a lot other than a little marzipan. A lovely thick texture that sits nicely on the tongue and brings soft flavours that are dominated by fruit with an enjoyable vanilla creaminess offset by a good, concentrated acidity. Soft tannins still show on the palate. There is a pleasant aftertaste and a finish of baked peaches sweetened with brown sugar. The overall impression is of an incredibly sweet port with the acidity not quite balancing the flavour profile. Great length. 88/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
