1972 Offley

1972 Offley Boa Vista
Brick red but very light; 40% opaque. Alcohol on the nose, but some toffee and strawberries. A touch of burnt sugar on entry, very sweet fruit, almost cloying but with a streak of acidity that cuts through like a red toffee apple - lots of fruity acidity but also lots of caramelized sugar. Quite hot on swallowing, a very peppery aftertaste leads to a sticky, sweet aniseed balls finish of terrific length. The best bottle of this port I have ever had; really remarkably good. 87/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
