NV Sandeman Tawny 30YO (bottled 2013)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2013. Honey brown colour with a hint of orange at the centre; 20% opaque. A lifted colheita nose full of pistachio paste. Quite thick in texture, rich yet balanced by a powerful acidity. A lovely complex set of flavours full of green apples, quince and lemon marmalade. A huge dose of acidity and a terrific presence on the palate. A dry touch to the aftertaste with a chewy texture leads to a big finish. A very good port, a real step up from the 20 yo. An amazing length to the cheek tingle. 91/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
