1986 Graham Malvedos

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, mature appearance but not starting to brick; opaque centre and a narrow rim. On the nose this has a freshness to it like wild strawberries picked in the morning dew - fruity and evocative. Dense on the palate, young and very tightly wound. Lots of purple fruit and still generous quantities of charcoal-like tannins drying the backs of the teeth. All along there is a hint of over-ripe pear-drops. The whole combines to give a very interesting palate. A touch sharp on the aftertaste before a long, warming milk chocolate and pear finish. Very tasty port. 90/100. June 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
