4 hours after decanting this had a deep red centre and was darker than the '63 alongside it. The nose was dominated by VA but the flavours in the mouth did not seem to be harmed by this. The redcurrants, cherries and Victoria plums were wrapped inside a sweet, balanced envelope of marmalade sauce. The aftertaste was warm and of sweet Rose's lime marmalade although a little short. 5/4 or 86/100 (marked down for the VA).

8½ hours after decanting the VA had blown off to reveal a lovely nose of plum pudding. The port had now developed a lovely thickly textured acidic structure with lots of fruit, a nice complexity and surprisingly (for a '66) no noticeable tannins. The length was good and long. Patience with this port has been rewarded. Very impressive. 92/100. Drunk 09-Feb-08
