It is exactly 3 months since I last drank Dow 1970. Time for another bottle!

Bought from the Boot & Flogger. The beautiful colour of mature port, polished red mahogany and about 50% opaque at the centre. The nose is full of spice, of nutmeg and mace mixed with fresh licorice root. On the palate this has wonderful balance with an abundance of sweet fruit, slightly sticky like date cake but offset with some sour cherry and a touch of bitterness. Although dense and concentrated the acidity and soft tannins keep this elegant and lively with multiple phases of flavour consistently pleasing the palate. A touch of heat shows on the aftertaste, giving quite a warm glow! Always there is the refined flavour of dried cherries and sweet dates but with that balancing acidity this never quite becomes cloying. The finish is phenomenal in length and is dominated by a bitter/sweet red licorice flavour. Delicious port. 92/100. Drunk 17-Sep-15. Decanted 1 hour.

I hope Wolfgang doesn't arrive and find that you have been tasting Dow 1970 before it has spent 5 hours in your glass!!!!!!

We were all given very strict instructions last week but unfortunately you missed the lesson.
