Hmm? This is going to be difficult.

I am four days into a bout of Man Flu - a severe strain that is likely to grab the headlines from Ebola now that West Africa has been given a clean bill of health.

I can say with a great deal of certainty that the Taylor 2005 LBV is a wine made from grapes grown in the upper region of the Douro river that is fortified with neutral spirit to cease fermentation after two or three days in order to retain a high level of residual sugar. This particular bottle tastes mainly of Olbas Oil and snot, with a long rasping finish of sharp metal filings and igneous gravel, perhaps with some sand and Ultra Chloraseptic thrown in for good measure.

I sense that the true greatness of this wine would have shone through had Ieft it in the bottle for another four or five days, but needs must.

And what colour is it? What does it smell of? How oleaginous is it (for those who care about such things)?

It is dark red. It smells of Olbas Oil. It coats the mouth with a sweet, clawing, stickiness that is a satisfying replacement for four days of snot and gravel.

This tasting note is unlikely to improve regardless of how many technical questions you ask me.
