1963 Borges

Probably English bottled. No label and sealed with a generic foil capsule with a bunch of grapes embossed on it. This bottle was opened with port tongs and the branding on the cork read to identify the port as "Borges Vintage 196…" so presumed to be 1963 as this was from the same source as the previous two bottles (thank you JDAW).
Dark butterscotch orange in colour, 30% opaque. Smelling of fresh lemon zest in the glass. Moderately thick texture with good levels of acidity. The fruit has faded but allows some pleasant tawny type flavours through with grapefruit and walnuts dominating the early palate. Powerful lime acidity and a lot of heat dominates the aftertaste but the finish is long and generous with plenty of sour grapefruit. Much better after a couple of days in the decanter. Perfectly pleasant winter warming port for bonfire night. 85/100 01-Nov-15. Decanted 7 days ago.
