From the ‘Emergency’ 1985 horizontal on Wednesday 26th December 2007, in which we tasted Dow 1985, Infantado 1985, two bottles of Ramos Pinto 1985, Graham 1985, Warre 1985, Croft 1985, and Offley 1968 Colheita.

The following day, Thursday 27th December 2007, these bottles were joined by Taylor 1985 and Andresen 1985.

Also see the review of the evening as a whole, and thread in which this tasting was arranged.

Hangover gone; glasses cleaned; dinner eaten. Time to write-up my tasting notes.

Andresen 1985, at about eight hours decanting, was very pale and thin. Plenty of nose, but very tawnified, and lots of sugar. JG and ED found rum. To taste heat, mostly alcohol, and a light flavour.

Described by someone as “insubstantial†. Better than my previous sample of J. H. Andresen 1985, in that it tasted of something (thin tawny) rather than nothing.

I think the Andresen 1985 might have been acceptable drinking on its own, but when you put it up against such heavy hitters as Dow, Taylor and Warre, it will pale (literally) in comparison. Very light tan color, brown sugar, rum-like nose. Quite thin, watery, and very light in flavor. 82 pts.
