1970 Dow

Drunk at CSD's Proper Emergency.

UK bottled. Raised cork. Mature dark rose red in colour. Gently fruity nose but not showing much other than some sharp redcurrant. Much sweeter on entry than expected from the nose, then a sharp and focused redcurrant mid-palate. Some soft tannins and a very dry mouthfeel with lots of acidity. This has lovely fruit and structure and a good presence on the palate. Dry aftertaste with a long and lingering finish of licorice root and bitter citrus peel. 89/100. Drunk 14-Oct-15. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
