1991 Churchill

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The surprise of the night for me. Mature red but with no bricking; 60% opaque. Lovely youthful nose with jellied red fruit. A nice balanced entry with great fruit offset by modest but adequate acidity and lovely tannins. The aftertaste is dry, fruity and warm. This could be the best showing of a Churchill port that I have had in a long time. 91/100.

Tasted at the Berry Brothers Port Walk on 26 November 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Ch91. Good fruit, but too rough for the price (£39).
