1970 Dow

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled by Courtenay Wines (International) Ltd of London NW11. A lovely mature red colour, brick red. A wonderful nose, rich and full of spiced mature fruit. Delicious on the palate, full of spiced fruit but still rather dry. Lots of brandy shows on the aftertaste before a lovely spiced, sweet and sticky fruit finish. The Dow dryness shows in the middle of the finish. A little too dry for my taste. 91/100.

Tasted at the Berry Brothers Port Walk on 26 November 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Big! Heat early and mid palate. Ready — fully evolved. A touch too hot. Lovely, but both the SW80 and GC80 were better.
