1992 Fonseca

Such a contrast to the Taylor shown alongside this bottle. Where the Taylor is dark and powerful the Fonseca is elegant and approachable. Still a deep red with an opaque centre the nose on the Fonseca is open and full of concentrated and sweet candied cherries. There is a smoothness and creaminess to the entry like sipping melted chocolate. The melted chocolate tannins dominate the mid-palate before allowing a wonderful Black Forest trifle complexity to come through. Delicious finish, full of sweet fruit. This is a very nice port which is drinking well today but with plenty of time ahead of it. 92/100.

Tasted at the Berry Brothers Port Walk on 26 November 2015.

More structure than the Taylor. Lots of dark plum. Needs twenty years.
