Judging by the bottle, this was probably bottled in the 1930s, the label still using the old spelling of "VN de Gaya".
Light brown in colour, the colour of pale olive wood; slightly hazy. Nosing of rosemary, coriander, mace and pecan - a terrificly interesting combination. Smooth and smokey palate entry with a bitter core and modest but adequate acidity. A good balance with caramel mixed in with the bitterness. A sour but amazingly persistent finish.
Astonishingly drinkable for 200 years of age! Not likely to deteriorate from here. Thank you Tom for such an interesting bottle. 88/100. Drunk 16-Dec-15. Pop 'n' pour.
