1904 Unknown Shipper
The first bottle to be opened from a parcel of unknown shipper 1904 vintage that was found in a deconsecrated church in Germany that was being converted to housing.

In the glass this is the colour of polished olive heartwood, 20% opaque. The smell is dominated by wood polish and beeswax, powerful and pronounced and a little oxidised. Gentle entry, hollow and slightly nutty, with bitter nutskins and dried fruit. Surprisingly tannic but lacking fruit or complexity, very dry. The dryness continues onto the aftertaste, where some heat also shows. Dry finish of decent length. Disappointing. 81/100.
