English bottled and with a good fill, but with a loose cork dropped by approximately 2 cm into neck. The bottle appeared to be sealed by the plastic capsule. A modest red colour of burnished copper, 30% opaque. Smelling of sweet cinnamon sticks and candied red cherries. On the palate this is balanced and refined with gentle fruit, a dose of sweetened cinnamon drops and perfectly balancing acidity. This is far more balanced and elegant on the palate than I would have expected from one of Taylor's ports. There is considerable heat on the aftertaste that takes a long time to fade. When it does eventually drop away it leaves a long and slightly too sweet mint-infused cough sweet finish of long length. A nice port to see in the New Year and the 50th anniversary of the port's harvest. 88/100. 31-Dec-15. Decanted 4 hours.
