S63 opened, decanted and then doubled back in at 9am. Very heavy, thick sediment in the bottle. Cork, label and seal all from a Berry Brothers & Rudd bottling in 1965. The bottle has been stood in the cellar for a few days and the port is beautiful and clear with a good nose. A tiny taste confirms that it should be good later on this evening.

Green indeed...a pale green. Does that indicate anything?

that it is a really good port! Sadly that it faded too quickly that night....

25% opacity, warm orange brown. Some very mild acidity, syrupy mouthfeel. OK port, but this time not able to compete with the other '60s on show.

Bottled by BBR, sealed with green wax. Orange-copper colour with a slight green rim. Oxidised oranges on the muted nose. Rather bland on entry, hollow and showing little. Hot and spirity mid-palate with high levels of acidity. The lightweight fruit is acidic citrus and shows only late, as lots of grapefruit and lime. Hot and peppery aftertaste with a sticky, sweet finish of burnt soft toffee and orange caramel. 85/100. 08-Feb-16. Decanted 10½ hours.

S63 When opened (10 hour decant) and at first taste at the actual tasting this was a magnificent rich, smooth, full mature port. Sadly it seemed to fade very quickly after pouring at the tasting and was a shadow of itself by the end of the evening. This was a BBR bottling and I would have scored at 93 at its peak and less than 90 by the end. Definitely a port I hope to taste again.

S63, BBR bottling. Red-orange, 30% opaque. Very soft. Hint of almonds. Mid-to-light weight; very long.
