Clear deep dark red with a clean nose of sweet plums, coffee and dark chocolate. Although it is not multi-layered, this has forward aromas that follow through to the sweet palate and seems developed. The tannins are soft with enough acidity to balance the sweetness and the finish has a medium+ length. Dia -91/100- 24/02/2016

70% opacity, deep dark red. Tannic, fruity, but a little light, not much structure/backbone, lacking acidity. One of the weaker Vesuvio on the night, for me.

V95 80% opacity. A fine port with big berry fruits showing with a touch of vanilla(?) and spices too. Not quite the balance and structure of the 94, but a great port.

Bottle 21458. Deep red with a very dark centre and a medium rim. Fruit and fragrant on the nose, very developed and pronounced. Mature fruit dominates the entry, fruit which is round and ripe. The tannins are almost hidden but when these have finally melded into the wine there is plenty of acidity to provide long-lasting structure. Sweet blackcurrants dominate the aftertaste; the finish is big and long with slightly bitter blackcurrants. Overall this is a delicious but slightly simple port. 90/100.

V95. Dark dark red. Very dry, tannic, astringent. But big. Needs fifteen years.
