V07 100% opacity. For its youth this was still a wonderful glass of port. Big fruits and sweetness as you would expect, but with more compexity and structure than I detected on many of the younger Vesuvios. Lots of heat on the finish.

My second-favourite wine of the night, a point behind the 2011.

Bottle 02808. Deep red appearance, in late youth. No purple in the tone but very dark with a narrow rim. Subdued on the nose initially but a bit of work releases lots of perfumed blackcurrant. Smooth and silky texture combines with concentrated and brooding sweet fruit before a massive tannin hit at the core of this wine. Well balanced, despite the burly palate, which allows the perfumed late palate to show at its best. Good aftertaste, big and powerful on the finish - which is chewy from green tannins and long lasting. A real burly winner of a port for the long haul. 95/100.

V07. Nose floral. Palate very floral, soft and full, but light. Lovely lovely now.
