NV Ferreira Tawny (Dona Antonia Reserve)

Dark red with brick hints; clear and attractive; 60% opaque. Very little on the nose, a touch of VA and dates but very faint. Smooth texture, nice balance between acidity and ripe date fruit. The fruit is modest but the acidity is generous. The mid-palate develops well to deliver a little more citrus and prune on a wave of acidity, supported by a touch of dry tannin. The aftertaste is dominated by the citrus acidity and dry fresh date tannins. Pleasant, but very straightforward. The second glass is less pleasant and more difficult to enjoy. 84/100. Drunk 25-Jan-16.
