SFE will release 104 bottles from the family's private reserves to form the Private Cellar Release in 2016. A mature burnished copper colour, 40% opaque. Lifted nose, clean and spicy with mace and nutmeg infused syrup cooked currants. Smooth and sweet entry, balanced and poised. The fruit is ripe, sweet and full of mature spice. Good acidity and soft tannins still show on the palate, with lots of spice and cedarwood. Mature and elegant. The abundance of spice shows on the aftertaste, peppery and with a slight bitterness late on the very, very long finish. Note that these bottles are being recorked before being shipped. 91/100. 24-Feb-16.
