The 1955 Quinta Do Noval was not properly decanted and did not have time to breath, as a result it had a strong nose of alcohol. The color was a bit cloudy and looked similar to an older bottle of Burgundy. The taste was of cheries, prunes, and caramel on the mid palate with a spicy and bright limoncello-like finish that lasted for at least 19 seconds. The Noval was an excellent '55 and similar to the 1955 Martinez in youthfulness and punch. Still at least 20 years left on this Port.
