2009 Calem LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Unfiltered. Deep red, crimson and opaque. Strawberries on the nose, floral and elevated. Aggressive entry, powerful and with dry tannins that overwhelm the fruit. Very tannic in the mid-palate, tannins which don’t really soften; strongly acidic. Needs a few more years to see how this evolves but is clearly made in a style that will benefit from cellaring. 89/100. Tasted 02-Mar-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
