Described on the label as Crusted 1961 but known to be a single vintage port from Malvedos. Mid-brown in colour, the colour of dark brown honey; 30% opaque. Almost nothing on the nose. Fresh acidity on entry with lots of sour apple and sour cherry but very acidic. Some heat from the acidity on the mid-palate and an attractive smokiness. Burnt matches on the aftertaste with lots of woodsmoke followed by a long finish that is bitter and acidic and ends in a burst of peppercorn. This came across as a port that is drying out, but still clinging to life. 81/100.

GM61. Red-brown-brown, 40% opaque. Soft, big, long, full-bodied, but over-mature. Won’t improve from here.
