A gift from Simon Lisle...

Decanted 2 hrs
Slightly gassy smell with little fruit evident. A bit cloudy, but then it travelled from Cambridge to Chesterfield to Newcastle and then back to Chesterfield within the last week

Nice thick texture and very smooth. Stewed plums, anicede and coffee with a good long finish. A little heat after a few seconds but this quickly fades into a satisfying warm glow.

Very nice fireside port.

Thanks, Simon

Derek

Derek, I almost got one at auction recently but the bidding when a few $$ to high than what I would pay. What would you score it or what would be the most you would pay to buy a bottle again. I ask so I'll have an idea the next time I run across it.

BTW, I'm not on any diet and will be drinking good for the next four days, starting tonight. A Mediteranean dinner with old Univeristy fraternity buddies and their families. Not sure on what wine I will have, but I'm thinking a 1995 Dow's Bomfim for dessert. Tomorrow an old friend, and fellow copper, are heading out for beers, burgers, and fries (chips). Not sure whats up for sun, mon, and tues just yet. But just wanted to rub that in.

Hmm? Difficult to score at this stage.

3 days with no alcohol
2 cans of Carling
2 cans of Guinness
No food

+2hrs
I would now describe this as peppery. Very drinkable, spicy and a good long finish. Not sure it has many decades left in it.

Score: 7-6
