1985 Churchill

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep brick red, 80% opaque. Powerful nose, made slighty aggressive by generous but not overwhelming levels of VA. Rustic palate, full of fruit but also with tones of the VA. The two combine to give a dry, tannic mouthfeel with plenty of fruit but with a sense of farmyard or dirtiness. Very powerful aftertaste and a big finish of black cherries and even darker chocolate; great length. 87/100. Drunk 03-Jun-16. Decanted 24 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
