1855 Taylor Colheita (Scion)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A glass purchased from the Yeatman Hotel bar while in Portugal .

Deep brown colour, like polished teak; 80% opaque. Very powerful on the nose with rich beef bouillion, balsamic vinegar and pistachio paste. Rich entry, with intense date flavours offset by searing citrus acidity. Rich toasted sugar on the mid-palate - so incredibly concentrated! Wonderful fresh concentrated oranges dominate the late palate. A touch of dryness comes through on the aftertaste and finish, like burnt sugar before the very long finish takes over and brings subtle layers of orange acidity and sweet, ripe dates. Still an amazing port and a wonderful experience. 98/100. 25-Jun-16.
