Imperial College stock. Rich, deep red colour; a lovely cherry red showing no signs of bricking. 80% opaque. Dusty cherries on the nose, slightly spirity but not overpowering. A great attack with lots of cherry fruit, hints of licorice and loads of cracked black pepper making it very spicy. Nice tones of lavender on the mid-palate give a poised and balanced feel to the fresh fruit. More licorice root and lavender on the aftertaste, which gets very hot and peppery before giving way to a long and delicious cherry and mild chilli-chocolate finish of a minute or two in duration. Delicious. 92/100. Opened 08-Jul-16. Decanted 3 days.
